SUGATULA

        Reading Tagalog poems for someone might be boring, a waste of time and a useless piece of writing to read about. Filipino writers are best writers. They wrote simple words and sentences but have deeper meanings. It would take a lot of time in order for us to understand the deeper meaning of the poems, about what it is trying to say and talk about. Reading it once wouldn’t help you, twice or thrice would work. Interpreting a poem by dancing, i think, is one of the best ways for us to understand and appreciate the real meaning of it. 

The Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG) of MSU-IIT performed the theatre play entitled “SUGATULA”. It is compose of poems written by Filipino poets and was interpreted by IPAG through dancing. Southern Cross, Pambabo tusok-tusok, Kung Paano Maging Makata, Pamarah and Origami are some of the poems being interpreted by the IPAG. The play was really a FULL package, the excitement, suspense, dramas and everything was there. From beginning to end the excitement on faces never fades. But the FUNNIEST at the same time the most THRILLING part was when the IPAG member take his shorts off, then we thought that it would end there, but suddenly he took his brief off and throw it away; it was like we were watching a SEXY SCENE in a ROMANTIC MOVIE, we don’t know what to do, whether to watch it or close our eyes, the audience screamed like they were being raped especially the girls. We really don’t know what really is happening because the people behind my back were saying “ OH M
Y GOD. Mang-gawas nata guys” haha I closed my eyes because I really don’t want to see his butt. The emotions of the performers were really there it never disappears, they really are professionals.

I salute the IPAG members because they didn’t just make us enjoy but also they helped us to appreciate how beautiful and meaning the work of our Filipino poets are. Their performance was really worth watching for.
