TEENAGE PREGNANCY

TEENAGE PREGNANCY

Teenage pregnancy is defined as pregnancy that occurs in women below the age of 20. It is common that at this age the girl has not completed her education and is completely dependent upon her parents thus unable to provide for the unborn child. Teenage pregnancy rate varies from one country to another depending on factors such as access to contraceptive methods, sex education and sexual activity.

It is normal for teenagers to believe in “the personal fable”: they think they are special and unique and invulnerable to harm. So naturally they believe that unprotected sex will not result in pregnancy. Couple this belief with the normal pubertal rise in hormones, sexual feelings and curiosity, and we have a problem! About half of all teens have sex before they graduate high school. By the time they realize that they have no special “immunity” to an accidental pregnancy, it is often too late. The personal fable becomes more powerful when mixed with drugs and alcohol. Some boys say that the only time they didn’t use a condom was when they were under the influence, and now they are teenage fathers.

Most teenage girls don't plan to get pregnant, but many do. Teens getting pregnant at young age have greater risk in delaying prenatal care. The bodies of a teenager are still growing when intercepted by pregnancy. Because of these more nutritional support should be given not just to the mother but also for the baby. Since this is the reason prenatal care is un utmost concern.

Another, teen mothers have problems in using drugs, alcohol and cigarette smoking. Any use of these can complicate the health of the mother and the baby inside which will likely increase the chance of premature birth and complications. The potential results of premature birth are brain damage, physical disabilities and other health related problems.
Pregnant teenager might be challenged in the future. They need to risk something important in their life for their better future with his/her baby. Financial problem may come in the future.  There are some cases that a teen mom chooses to stop studying to raise their child but sometimes the child can’t have a good educational background because he/she is not sent to a better school because of financial problem. Some teenagers are excited to bear a child, especially when it is their first pregnancy. They are excited to see their baby. Others are excited to buy clothes and other things for the baby. They think of names for the baby. Some are confused and at a loss on what to do. They are too young and many have no idea about bearing a child. Some are scared. They think of questions like, “How should I tell my parents?” “How will I face my classmates?” or “What is the best thing to do to solve this problem?” They are afraid to answer these questions. they feel scared on what will be the reactions of their parents. Frustration comes later. Pregnant teenagers will realize that they are not yet ready to bear a child when it’s already late.
Preventing teenage pregnancy may also come down to overcoming parent-child communication barriers. Parents should explain to their children what safe sex is and teach her how to respect herself. Knowing where your teens are going and whom they are with is basic Parenting 101. If you don't know the kids they are hanging out with, get to know them. Allow your teen to have friends over; then make sure you are checking on them regularly down in that basement! It's impossible to hang on your teen like a fly to flypaper. So, give her the tools to make good decisions. Talk to her about sex and the causes of teenage pregnancy. You wouldn't withhold information about preventing type 2 diabetes, so why would you withhold how to prevent teen pregnancy or STDs?
The causes of teen pregnancy are daunting, but what it boils down to is this: Be the parent your teen needs. Be available and interested in their lives. Ask questions. Set rules and stick by them. Be the bad guy because that is the job you signed up for when you had children. Above all, lead them with love.

Cabadbaran City

Cabadbaran, a beautiful city in the province of Agusan del Norte. It maybe unheard unlike the neighboring city, Butuan but it is the capital city of the province of Agusan del Norte. Cabadbaran lies 9 degrees north latitude and 125 degrees and 30 minutes east longitude on the northeastern part of Mindanao. Its boundaries are Tubay to the north, Butuan Bay to the west, Magallanes to the south, Madrid, Surigao del Sur to the east. It is 29 kilometers away from Butuan City. It is generally flat with rolling hills and swamplands in its western part. The highest of all mountains in the Caraga Region, Mt. Hilong-hilong (located 2,012 meters above sea level), rises in this city.

There are lots of beautiful places and spots in Cabadbaran that most tourist visits. Like the Mount. Pungkay which serves as a viewing deck wth a 360 degrees panorama of the scenic Cabadbaran City. The beaches here in Cabadbaran may not be characterized by white powder sand, but the gentle and the soft whisper of the waves crashing on the seashore that lulled all tourist to come back and enjoy every beat of the singing breeze. The peoples government center is an architecture of a world class design.

The Cabadbaran City plaza is a monumental landmark with beautiful landscape of flowers and trees growing abundantly and a meeting place of friends and lovers.

No doubt of missing Cabadbaran,my hometown. The hidden precious of Agusan del Norte.

Graduation Gift

To travel the whole Philippines is my number one dream, before travelling the other countries. Graduation day is nearly coming that time. My aunt whose in Australia called me and said that she will treat me and my sister in a trip to “Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig, Enchanted river in Surigao del sur, and Britania Island” as a Graduation Gift. My sister is a graduating elementary pupil, and I’m a graduating high school student that time. My aunt will also be coming home here in the Philippines from Australia.
After hearing what she said I was like “OH MY GOD” I was so excited to go home from school that time to tell my family about that trip.  When I got home I was like “ SISTEEEEER” my sister was running from her room to the door where I was standing. We really are excited about it.
The most awaited day finally came, my aunt arrived from Australia, she and her Australian husband are also excited for the trip. By the way, my aunt is named Levy and her husband is named Tom they are more or less than 30 years of living together now.
As we packed ther things that we need for the trip, my sister really has a big smile on her face she told me “Oh my god ate, I always dreamed to go to Enchanted River, my dream finally came true” I was like “hahaha yeah right”. She says “ MY DREAM” because me myself already went to Enchanted River in Surigao del Sur, but actually that was an unexpected trip.  The story of my first trip to Enchanted River goes like this; I was having my Job Interview as a final exam for our Speech subject that day, then after, that my Cousin pick me up from school using his Motorbike, then as we go to our house, I saw my mom and dad bringing their bags with them. I told my cousin to stop and he obeyed. I shout “ Ma where are you going!?” my mom was like “Oh,,,” seems like she was hiding something, my dad answers my question “ actually nak, your mom and I are planning to visit LOLONG, you know? The biggest crocodile in the world? And after that were also going to visit Enchanted River”, dad answered, I said “I want to go visit too”. My parents have no choice because I was having this saddest facial expression. So that’s the story about my first trip in enchanted river.
As we go, boredomness finally starts inside the car. My aunt’s telling a lot of joke just to fight the boredomness. My aunt told his husband “look at the right and left side of the road Tom, you can see all the bananas” and my uncle responded “Look at the right side and the left side Lev, you can really see the both sides of the road”, and finally everyone laughs so hard.

When we arrive, we really did enjoy all the time there, like as if the place will going to be disappear forever. That was really a memorable, unforgettable and most enjoyable day of our lives. Nothings compares to a trip where you are with the people that are important to you.

SARI-MANOK

ONE BIRDS DREAM, TEARS A TRADITION.  THE SARI-MANOK IS A LEGENDARY BIRD OF THE MARANAO PEOPLE. IT IS DEPICTED AS A FOWL WITH COLORFUL WING AND FEATHERED TAILS. I HAVE SEEN THAT PLAY WAY BACK 2008 WHEN I WAS ON MY FIFTH OR SIXTH GRADE.  IT IS THE LEGENDARY BIRD THAT HAS BECOME UBIQUITOUS SYMBOL OF MARANAO ART.
THE PRODUCTION NUMBER WAS GREAT! I REALLY LOVED WATCHING THEM DANCE, THEY REALLY IMITATED THE ACTIONS OF A BIRD; THE WAY THEY MOVE THEIR FEET, THEIR HANDS AND THEIR HEADS. I LOVE THEIR COSTUMES, ESPECIALLY SARI-MANOK, I LOVE THE COLORFUL DESIGN OF HER WINGS AND EVERYTHING. THE STAGE WAS GREAT; YOU CAN REALLY SEE THE EFFORT THAT THEY GAVE TO HAVE A PERFECT SHOW AND TO GET THE INTEREST OF EVERYBODY.
WHEN THE THEATER PLAY FINALLY STARTED, I’VE OBSERVED ONE BIG PROBLEM. I THINK THEY DID NOT TEST THE SOUND OF THE MICROPHONES IF THE QUALITY OF THE ACTOR AND ACTRESSES VOICE ARE ALSO CLEAR TO THE PEOPLE THAT ARE FAR FROM THE STAGE.
WHEN YOU SAY “THEATER PLAY” IT IS IMPORTANT FOR THE AUDIENCE TO REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THE STORY IS ALL ABOUT. ITS NOT JUST ABOUT HOW THEY DANCE OR SING, IT’S ALSO ABOUT HOW THEY DELIVER THE WORDS THAT THEY WERE SAYING.
FRANKLY SPEAKIING, I REALLY DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE STORY, I CAN NOT PROPERLY UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT THEY’RE SAYING.  ALL I KNOW WAS THAT THEY WERE TALKING. I AM SO DISAPPOINTING, THEY SHOULD HAVE CHECK THE QUALITY OF THE MICROPHONES TUNE, IF EVERYBODY CAN UNDERSTAND IT, OR IS IT CLEAR TO THE EARS OF THE PEOPLE ON THE BLEACHER. I WAS WONDERING IF, I SHOULD CONTINUE TO WATCH THE SHOW OR SHOULD I LEAVE? I EXPECTED A LOT FROM THE SHOW, I THOUGHT THAT EVERYTHING WOULD BE PERFECT. I THOUGHT IT WOULD REALLY CAPTURE MY ATTENTION, BUT I WAS WRONG.  THE PERSON NEXT TO ME, AND ON MY BACK, KEPT ON MURMURING ABOUT THE SHOW, THE SAYS “ ka sayang sa akong kwarta oi, nindot man unta, wa lang jud ko kasabot” , I ALSO FEEL THE SAME. THE MICROPHONES VOLUME OF THE MAIN CHARACTER WAS REALLY LOW, WHICH IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE HE/SHE IS THE CENTER OF THE PLAY. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I WAS JUST SO DISAPPOINTED.

THEIR DANCES AND SONGS WERE SO AMAZING, NO QUESTIONS, NO REGRETS. I WAS LIKE WATCHING A CONCERT NOT A THEATER PLAY.
